I went up home this weekend to see Gram and the family. what a trip... on the way up, i got just north of Ralston, PA on Route 14. I came around the corner and was greeted by flashing lights and stopped traffic. there was an accident and Rt14 was closed. This isn't some supa-highway...this is a two lane, glorified cow path with a yellow line down the middle. There's no other way to go up, unless i feel like taking the "scenic" route through Bodines and the mountains... so i elected to wait it out. So i sat there for about 45 minutes, and the girl in the next car walks back to me and says "do you have any cell phone coverage here?". Of course i dont. there's barely a radio station out there, let alone a cell phone tower. Turns out that she had a flat tire. So we pulled her car over and spent the next 45 minutes trying to get her tire off (damned rust). finally got the tire changed and sent her on her way. whew. got to the hospital an hour and a half late tho.

Weekend was fine. Spent lots of time with gram, which is always wonderful.

On Sunday i headed back a little early to avoid some of the bad weather. Got all the way down 322 and was about to cross the river, when i saw the sign...
322 EAST CLOSED AT DAUPHIN, PLEASE USE ROUTE 15 SOUTH. crap...ok. it'll take an extra 15 min to go down the other side of the river, but thats not too bad. So i headed South on 15...until i ran into the 10 MILE LONG line of traffic that was completely stopped. I guess there was also an accident on 15, and THAT was closed too. so me (and every other person) was sitting there NOT MOVING for almost 2 hours on 15 south. ugh.

I was not meant to have a good weekend of driving...
